Gary Goldberg, left, offered students a seminar in photography and digital image manipulation, and he photographically documented the process of the installation and classes. Additional staff, left to right, are Nancy Gail Kizis, Larry Hamilton, Beth Galston, and BC Gilbert. Gail Kizis presented daily classes in watercolor and mixed media using charcoal. Larry Hamilton assisted the director, Jim Henson, with the organizational details and supervised students throughout the two weeks.

Jim Henson, ArtFest09 Coordinator, directed the event beginning with a foundation committee meeting in May of 2008 organized by Fine Arts Curriculum Specialist, Dr. Dan White. Over a year of planning went into the project. Henson was responsible for contacting the guest artist, establishing and managing the budget, appointing the staff, and setting up the selection process for the participants.

Angeline Nesbit, ArtFest09 Intern, was selected from Moore College of Art to assist participants with her art and leadership skills. Nesbit also purchased supplies and materials, distributed advertising, and worked on the overall installation.

Beth Galston provided insightful guidance as her vision for the installation unfolded; she encouraged students to explore the qualities of the materials in order to discover how this thought process leads to creative artmaking. BC Gilbert was Beth's primary assistant who engineered and directed some of the most difficult features of the installation. Tommy Evans offered a one day workshop in design and photography. See a sample of the student work below: Shelsee Dahlgren, Self Portrait. All staff and students participated in putting the installation up. The opening on June 26th was well attended by several hundred visitors.
